Tests to look for mold toxin illness

Urine Mycotoxins

Labs: Real Time Labs, Great Plains Labs and Vibrant America.  Medicare coveres RTL at no cost if you have Medicare as PRIMARY only.  All other insurances and labs cost $299 and not covered by insurance as they are considered experimental.

Do get best results, you should do glutathione challenge and collect urine after sauna, bath or shower.

It is common for tests to show increased levels after treatment starts so please do not be discouraged.

Biomarkers-Labcorp

MMP9, MSH, TGF-b, VEG-f

ACTH, osmolality,

These biomarkers look at several "biomarkers" that are typical for biotoxin related illness and MUST be done at Labcorp.  These look at effects of toxins on inflammation, immune and hormone dysregulation.

Medicare does not cover all and commercial insurance may not cover all.  YOU will want to check with them to know before you have labs done.  These can also be ordered for much less by cash pay through our clinic.

Tests for mold in your body

OAT test by Great Plains Labs has urine markers that evaluate for current bold/fungus/yeast overgrowth. This is $179 for most patients, $0 for Medicare primary insurance

MARCONs:  This is nasal swab looking at fungal growth that can be from sinus/nasal colonization

 $80-100

Fungal Titers at local lab can look at immune response to mold but not always accurate for current infection/colonization.

Other tests

Heavy Metal testing:  testing for HM are important as they are necessary for mold to form biofilms and often cause mold to increase production of toxins. There are several options for labs and tissue testing.

Nutrient Testing:  Also done at several labs.  One I use most frequently is NutrEval by Genova labs $179 for most patients with insurance, $0 for Medicare patients.  This also tests for heavy metals, yeast, bacterial, gut health, neurotransmitters and more.
